the day the earth shook

Fri, 11 March 2011

sometime in the day an earthquake hit the north east part of Japan. when vince SMSed, I did not think much of it and dismissed it with a "Japan is so big, it does not affect us" response. Afterall, Japan is no stranger to earthquakes...

little did I know how this 8.9 earthquake would evolve into an event that would be so significant it would affect the lives of millions around the world, and kept us transfixed on the news, images, videos, and stories coming out from Japan

the 23 meter high tsunami that would battered Japan and the resulting nuclear incident left a nation with more than 15,000 dead and missing, and left Tokyo a ghost town, with countries advising their citizens to leave Japan for their own safety

in our own ways, we pray for the ones left behind, and that Japan would fix the nuclear problems soon. The entire world is on edge over the radiation risks from the Fukushima nuclear plant

On Monday, 14 March, as the scale of the disaster and tragedy unfolds, we all decided to cancel the fixie holiday
